Looking for something comfort to stay in Tanjung Puting? We may serve as your transport service, while the team members can book a room in Rimba Lodge for you. This lodge is located by the Sekonyer River, at the opposite of the national park, and very proud of their eco-friendly policy. To complete your comfortable holidays, we’re happy to get you involved in the reforestation programme, organised by our local non-government organisation partner.

 

ITINERARY:

DAY 01

ISKANDAR AIRPORT/HOTEL – KUMAI – NATIONAL PARK – TANJUNG HARAPAN CAMP – PROBOSCIS MONKEY – RIMBA ECO LODGE ( LUNCH, DINNER )

-Arrival in Pangkalan Bun airport in the morning. Or Meet at the hotel.

-Upon your arrival, our friendly tour guide will assist you to the klotok  port in Kumai. It takes around 20 minutes drive from the airport/hotel to Kumai.

-You’ll be transferred to Klotok. The journey to Tanjung Puting National Park will begin shortly.

-Lunch will be served on board.

-After 2 hours of cruising Kumai and Sekonyer River, Klotok will reach the jetty of Camp Tanjung Harapan. From the jetty, it takes around 30 minutes walk to the feeding platform. This will be your first encounter with wild orangutans. The feeding time in Camp Tanjung Harapan begins at 15:00 PM.

-From Tanjung Harapan, klotok will cruise deeper to the National Park.

-You may find congregation of proboscis monkeys sitting at branches of trees along the riverbank in late afternoon.

-When it gets dark, Klotok will stop and park at a riverbank.

-Dinner will be served on board.

-Free time in the evening.

-Stay overnight at Rimba Lodge

DAY 02

RIMBA ECOLODGE – PESALAT –  CAMP LEAKEY  – RIMBA ECOLODGE(ALL MEALS; BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER)

-After breakfast in Rimba Lodge, Klotok  will take you to the jetty of Pesalat reforestation area. It takes around 35 minutes to get there.

-From the jetty, walking 25 minutes to the reforestation area. Here we can contribute by planting one tree or two. Our local non-government organisation partner, the Friends of National Park (http://www.fnpf.org/what-we-do/tanjung-puting-national-park), will look after your trees.

-When you’re ready, walking back to the Klotok and heading straight to the legendary Camp Leakey. This camp becomes a legend because the first systematic research and study of orangutans was conducted here in the 1970s. It’s a long-term research and keeps going on at present.

The cook of Klotok will serve you lunch on board before you’re off to exploring the Camp.

The feeding time in Camp Leakey begins at 14:00 PM and it takes around 40 minutes walk from the jetty to the feeding platform.

You may experience close encounter with wild orangutans in Leakey Camp. It’s the best location for taking photographs closely with orangutans in the wild. However, it’s strongly recommended to keep a safe distance from orangutans

-When you’re ready, walking back to the jetty.

-Klotok will cruise slowly back to Rimba Lodge.

-Free time in the evening.

-Dinner on the boat

-Stay overnight in Rimba Lodge.

DAY 03

RIMBA ECOLODGEPONDOK TANGGUI CAMP — SEKONYER VILLAGE –  KUMAI – CITY TOUR – KECUBUNG HOTEL —AIRPORT/HOTEL.(ALL MEALS; BREAKFAST,LUNCH)

-After breakfast, Klotok will proceed to the jetty of Pondok Tanggui Camp.

-From the jetty, it takes around 30 minutes walk to the feeding platform. The feeding time in Pondok Tanggui begins at 09:00 AM.

-From Pondok Tanggui, Klotok will cruise back toward Kumai.

-Stop over in Sekonyer Village at the opposite of the jetty of Tanjung Harapan Camp. Our guide will assist you walking around the village where you can buy some souvenirs crafted by local people. It takes approximately 1 hour to explore this small village.

-Lunch will be served on board

-From the village, Klotok will cruise straight to Kumai.

-From Kumai, you’ll be transferred to the hotel in Pangkalan Bun.

-If time permit, we can have a short city tour in late afternoon by visiting Istana Kuning (the Royal Palace), browsing the local market where you can get semi-precious gems or exploring Arut River.

-Dinner at restaurant (seafood,traditional, western Restaurant )

-Free time in the evening.

-Stay overnight in Grand Kecubung Hotel.

-After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport. Transfer service can be organised according to your flight schedule.
